Apel·les Mestres School

We are students of the third year of the secondary school Institut Apel·les Mestres  in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona. We have conducted a workshop of introduction to nanotechnology. In different groups, we have studied some fields in which nanotechnology is being applied. To do this, we have mostly used resources found in the pages of NanOpinion. The fields we have studied have been: cosmetics, environment, clothes, sports, food and medicine.

In a final session, each group gave a presentation sharing their information with the other groups and we have made a discussion on the use of nanotechnology. Furthermore, we have answered the questionnaire of the European survey on nanotechnology. In the conclusions, we have evaluated very positively the new possibilities offered by nanotechnology. We think that is needed further research in this direction, always under the control and monitoring of potential risks to health and the environment that the use of nanoparticles could cause.

About nanopinion

  • nanopinion is an EC-funded project bringing together 17 partners from 11 countries with the aim of monitoring public opinion on what we hope from innovation with nanotechnologies. The project is aimed citizens with a special focus on hard-to-reach target groups, which are people who do not normally encounter and give their opinion nanotechnologies at first hand.
  • Dialogue is facilitated online and in outreach events in 30 countries presenting different participatory formats.
  • To promote an informed debate, we also run a strong press & social media campaign and offer a repository with more than 150 resources.
