Nanoyou Lab Experiment D- Students Document (11-13)
The aim of Experiment D is to understand the concept of “superhydrophobicity” by examining natural superhydrophobic surfaces versus common surfaces. A natural superhydrophobic material, the Lotus leaf, is shown as a model for engineering advanced materials, like textiles, that stain less and require less washing. In the experiment different textiles are tested for their stain resistance, including a consumer product, Nano-Tex®. The experiment is designed for the 11-13 years age group. This is a teacher document to provide them with some background information as well as instructions for preparing the experiments. This experiment is one of four experiments contained in the NANOYOU Teachers Training Kit of nanoscience and nanotechnologies. About nanopinion
- nanopinion is an EC-funded project bringing together 17 partners from 11 countries with the aim of monitoring public opinion on what we hope from innovation with nanotechnologies. The project is aimed citizens with a special focus on hard-to-reach target groups, which are people who do not normally encounter and give their opinion nanotechnologies at first hand.
