Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Impacts-Technology Sector Evaluation: Health, Medicine & Nanobio

This report examines EHS aspects relating to developments in nanomedicine as reported in the ObservatoryNANO technology sector report on Health, Medicine & Nanobio. That report is subdivided in six subsectors: Therapeutics; Sensors & Diagnostics; Regenerative Medicine; Implants Surgery & Coatings, Novel Bionanostructures, and Cosmetics. In each of the subsector reviews, key technologies and their descriptions are provided. The state of R&D in that particular area is described and additional demands for research are briefly outlined.

The aim of the OBSERVATORYNANOI project was to support policy makers through the provision of wide-ranging scientific and economic analysis of nanoscience and nanotechnology developments, together with the assessment of ethical and societal aspects, impacts on environment, health and safety, as well as developments in regulation and standardization. The project focused on 10 technology sectors: Aerospace, Automotive & Transport; Agrifood; Chemistry and Materials; Construction; Energy; Environment; Healthcare; Information and Communication Technology; Security; Textiles

About nanopinion

  • nanopinion is an EC-funded project bringing together 17 partners from 11 countries with the aim of monitoring public opinion on what we hope from innovation with nanotechnologies. The project is aimed citizens with a special focus on hard-to-reach target groups, which are people who do not normally encounter and give their opinion nanotechnologies at first hand.
  • Dialogue is facilitated online and in outreach events in 30 countries presenting different participatory formats.
  • To promote an informed debate, we also run a strong press & social media campaign and offer a repository with more than 150 resources.
